WVGS Classes/Workshops


To help you with your Genealogy, we offer a variety of basic-advanced Genealogy related classes/workshops.  Sessions are held in our Library in our Traditional classroom and our New PC classroom. We cover the ins and outs of Genealogy, Genealogy Libraries, Genealogy Computer Programs, Technology Aids, Preserving Memories and Photos.

NOVICE GENEALOGY


This class will focus on the first steps needed to get you started on your research. No prior knowledge is necessary. There will be a new class the 3rd Friday of each month.


Friday, 1-3:30 PM, every 3rd Friday unless noted.

Uncovering Hidden Treasures at FamilySearch.org


FamilySearch.org is more than a Family Tree. Learn how to use this valuable free website, containing images of original records from all over the world, including: Historical Records, Books, Wiki and the Learning Center.

This class is designed for 'novices' to SLC research, but is open to anyone considering going on a research trip to Salt Lake City. You will be given an overview of the Family History Library - its resources and learn what to expect.

What to do with your Genealogy Research?


Who gets what and how? Make it easier for your heirs, WVGS and genealogical societies! Get Organized – write your obituary. Include your family heirlooms, books and more. Learn about appraisals and estate auctions.
